What Is Dendritic Cell Therapy for Cancer?

Dendritic cell therapy is a personalized cancer immunotherapy. Dendritic cells are the immune system’s scouts: they show T cells what to attack.

For the therapy, they are produced from your own blood, loaded with antigens from your tumor in a laboratory, and given back to you as a vaccine. The aim is to train your immune system to recognize the cancer cells.

Before the vaccine is made, the treatment starts with NVD virotherapy. Newcastle disease virus, a bird virus that is harmless to humans, is used to trigger immunogenic cell death (ICD) in tumor cells.

As these cells die, they release their tumor antigens together with danger signals that alert the immune system. These antigens are what the dendritic cells are loaded with in the laboratory, so the vaccine is directed against the features of your own tumor.

Is Dendritic Cell Therapy Right for You?

Dendritic cell therapy is a personalized immunotherapy made from your own immune cells. It is not suitable for every patient, and we believe you deserve an honest assessment before you consider treatment. Are there side effects, and how severe are they?

“Yes, like all medical treatments, dendritic cell vaccination and other immunotherapies can have side effects—but they are generally much milder compared to chemotherapy or radiation. Most patients experience only mild flu-like symptoms such as fatigue, fever, or soreness at the injection site.

However, these effects usually go away within a day or two. Serious side effects are rare, especially with dendritic cell therapy, because it works with your body’s natural immune system.

The doctor will closely monitor every patient and personalize the treatment to minimize risks as much as possible.”
